Nonna's Yarn Cafe
Here we are in beautiful Denville. Two Italian sisters, Josephine & Nickie, who love to knit, crochet and bake! Our mother’s name was Rosalia and our children would call her Nonna, which means Grandma in Italian. She was the inspiration for our yarn café. Now she is our guardian angel watching over us and our dream.
Our dream is to make Nonna’s Yarn Café a very enjoyable gathering spot for all knitters and crocheters. Don’t worry if you are neither…once you walk through our doors you will want to be one or the other!

Spring/Summer 08
Finally spring has made an appearance; we had such a busy winter here at Nonnas that I must apologize for the lack of communications; the computer is not my biggest fan.
Spring Break!! My daughter Isadora was home from school for a little more then a week and it was great. I see a difference in her, a more grown up attitude about things. She stopped by the shop a couple of time and some of you got to meet her. Isadora knows all of your names now she was able to put some faces to the names. As most of you know my daughter is going for a fashion degree in NYC. She gave us some great refreshing ideas for the shop. Stop by and see if you can spot the differences!
Now the latest; we have yarns and more yarns we think we have way too much yarn soo we are doing some spring cleaning. Therefore if any of you are interested the “train of shame” has some new cabooses. These cabooses hold yarns that are 30 – 50% and some 70% off retail price. We really want to clean up!
We also received new gorgeous fibers just yesterday from “J Knits” and boy is Jo’ knitting a lot lately. I have a dead line; in three days I must finish my spring coat. A version of the Einstein “A La Josephine” It’s a race against time!
Speaking of Einstein everyone is feeling like the great genius there are about 9 ladies knitting up the coat some in wool and some in cotton it’s amazing to see all the different version of it. Sally Mellville would be proud!
Back to J Knits what a beautiful soft yarn; we have a sock weight yarn that is super wash which means it can be knit into socks or a feathery shawl. Also there is we have dk yarn that has some very pretty colors ways for children and adults alike.
Steve (UPS) also delivered more boxes, some from Tahki Stacy Charles and we are waiting for much more. We did not do too much in cottons but ordered more the transitional yarns which we think being the times as they are now people might appreciate to knit or crochet something that can be worn spring or fall. That’s why we think Tahki’s new Tweed or “Siam” is a perfect addition to our family. Also we added Zarina Baby ; Wow is it ever so soft.
Everyone at the shop has been in baby mode all month of March and we have quite a few projects already completed. Some of these projects will disappear by Sunday. Come and see if you can!
I also would like to express my gratitude for your patience. My pattern writing is getting better. I do like to knit the garments and experiment as I go never thought that so many of you liked my designs. But I promise I will try to write down the patterns for the samples I knit or crochet. It’s not as much fun writing the pattern as it is knitting/crocheting them.
